NORDA: WHEN RUNNING SHOES ARE NO LONGER A COMPROMISE
Most running shoes solve the same problem in the same way: lightweight foam, synthetic upper, rubber sole. The differences between brands are real, but they operate within the same material framework. Norda started with a different question—what if trail shoes were made from materials previously reserved for mountaineering and military equipment?
The brand was founded in 2021 in Montreal by Nick and Villamina Martire—runners with experience in the outdoor industry—alongside Louis-Martin Tremblay and Gérard Clallo. Nick previously worked at Arc'teryx, which explains the approach to materials: precise, technical, and uncompromising. The inspiration came from Quebec—a region where the climate can swing from -35°C to +35°C in a single season, making equipment reliability non-negotiable. This environment brutally tests every design assumption.
